A Few Highlights

My fiction and poetry have appeared in magazines and literary publications. For example,  my story “A Confession” won first place in the journal Irreantum’s fiction contest, and “Obbligato” was included in Zarahemla Books’ anthology Dispensation: Latter-Day Fiction. Under the name “My Mother’s Kitchen,” this story was previously a finalist in the Hunger Mountain fiction contest judged by author Wally Lamb (She’s Come Undone).  I was awarded the Charles B. Wood Award for Distinguished Writing from The Carolina Quarterly for the best story of the year.I earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. My years in the program gave me the opportunity to interact with and learn from amazing faculty and fellow-students. While at Vermont College, I was nominated by the Faculty Advisory Committee to represent the college in both the Best New American Voices Contest and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Intro Awards.
