Book Doctor

Writing a book-length work can feel lonely and overwhelming. It helps to have someone to steady the ladder, someone who can provide encouragement, perspective, and accountability. Whether as a fellow brainstormer at the beginning of a project, a beta-reader at the end; or a sounding-board along the way, I meet you where you are and provide the level of help that you request.

Editor

Sometimes the view is great, but the window could use a shine. Ideally, the reader doesn't "see" the words on the page at all, but only the world that the words create. But when the words aren't quite right, the reader is jolted out of the story, and reminded that they're sitting in a crowded subway or at the kitchen table.

As writers, we're often too close to our vision to be aware of any spots marring the view. Such see-through clarity can be hard to achieve without another pair of eyes on the text. I provide line editing to ensure that your writing is grammatically correct as well as engaging and readable.

Proofreader

The last step before submitting your work to an agent or publisher, or before posting it online, is to look for those errors that a spell check or a grammatical scan won't catch. Nothing takes the place of a detail-oriented (human) proofreader.
